I have a wide range of sharpening stones for sale in my shop, and sometimes, it feels like time is running out to test all the stones and learn about their properties. I was thinking of asking if there is any firsthand information about Hibiki sharpening stones on this forum. These have been in my inventory for a while, but I haven't made a video about the topic yet. Now it's time to get to work. I have learned that especially the Hibiki 6000 and 8000 feel heavenly good with certain metals, but the same properties do not apply to other metals, for example. I would like to know where Hibiki shines in your sharpening, i.e., where it performs at its best.
There has been much discussion about whether these stones are S&G or soaker. In the tests I have done, I kept the stones in the water for about 10-15 minutes, which is the instruction I got from Naniwa when I last met them.
