My family brought this 240mm Kiritsuke back for me as a gift from Masamoto Tsukiji. They were told that it is carbon steel, but when I asked them, they couldnt specify what type of carbon steel. Any ideas?

Also do you know where I can get a saya?

korin sells sohonten, not tsukiji... that being said, tsukiji has a website in japanese that you might be able to check out. Sorry i dont have time to post more... gotta get ready for the last day of a sakai city event here in LA.

Does the back have any kanji?

If it's a Kasumi, it's White #1. If it's Hongasumi, it's Blue #1.

There is nothing on the back side, this was the only kanji on the knife.

I bet it's a Kasumi, White No. 1.

You sir, are the winner. My family went with a friend who lives in Tokyo to pick up this knife. They called him today and he said they told him it was a White #1.

Thanks everyone for your help. This thing cuts like a razor.
