Here are a couple more. The first was taken in Chiang Mai Thailand the other was of the "knife guy" in a meat market in Bangkok. The sharpening stone photo doesn't really show how deeply dished it is. Looked like you could use it for a soup bowl. Ginger was already known in China in the first millennium BC if not earlier, where it had been cultivated in the southern and central provinces. It has a long and illustrious history in China and was used during the Han period.
