I made another cute little sheath for my Wusthof

Hi guys, A few weeks ago I bought a Wusthof 9 inch classic chefs for the hell of it. I also had some scrap leather lying around from the sheath I made for my chinese cleaver. I decided to make a sheath for my Wusthof. I did some experimental techniques. This time, I stippled the leather to...

Need a new knife for hotel work.

I got the Migaki version of the Syousin Chiku from James, it's pretty amazing IMO. Guy makes top notch after market handles too. If you can, go to the showroom before you make a purchase. I'm pretty sure he has some stock not advertised online that may strike your fancy. Sadly I live in the...

Made a cute little leather sheath for my chinese cleaver

Do you have pics? I'm interested in seeing other types of leather sheaths. I got a 240mm Kurosaki coming in the mail, and I have enough material to make another sheath for that. But I thought it to be too blasphemous. I'd definitely be open to having my mind changed.

Made a cute little leather sheath for my chinese cleaver

Thanks! It's all handmade with cheap chinese knock-off tools + a good quality edge beveler. I've been told by the leatherworking community that edge bevelers are the the most important things to increase the fit and finish quality. The scales were done by wetting the leather just a bit, and...

Made a cute little leather sheath for my chinese cleaver

I got this Suien VG-10 a couple years ago. After browsing this forum, I got intrigued by sayas, and I wanted to make a custom saya. However, as I embarked on my journey, I realized that good saya nomis were at least $150, something I was not willing to spend for a one-time project. I switched...

Which German knives are of the highest quality?

I currently have a Kurosaki Syousin Migaki AS. I suppose it's not so high of a maintenance, but I'm still looking for something that can be neglected.

Which German knives are of the highest quality?

Oh I messed up... That price is for the stealth though, is the stealth better than the non-stealth version? I figured a bulkier blade = more durable and able to take more abuse, so for my purposes i don't want stealth.

Which German knives are of the highest quality?

Thank you all. I managed to find a Wusthof half bolster LCB 9 inch for $100. It is to my understanding that the Meridian Elite and the Classic Ikon are very similar, and seeing as how they are respectively $150 and $200, I've elected to purchase the Le Cordon Bleu verson.

Which German knives are of the highest quality?

Meridian Elite looks good actually. Is there a difference between the Meridian Elite and the Olive Elite, besides the handle?

Which German knives are of the highest quality?

Hello all, I did extensive Google searches last night to try to find this answer, but I'd like to confirm with you guys. A lot of folks who aren't into into knives do not know of these master blacksmiths from Japan who create Japanese knives of superior quality. Many think brands like Shun...

    Leatherworking health hazards?

Hi guys, I'm starting to get into leatherworking to make knife sheaths. Materials and tools are coming in next week, and at this current point in time I have exactly 0 experience in the matter (kind of a learn as I go sort of thing). I'm wondering if there are any carcinogenic or any other...

Need recommendation for a gift suji/gyuto

Thank you all for the replies. I didn't think about Korin, as I assumed that they only stock brand knives and I wanted one forged by a renowned bladesmith (Saji, Kurosaki, Takeda, etc.) Perhaps I should really look into the shop. I heard SG2 was considerably harder to sharpen and hone to its...
