name the ONE comfort food for you.

I could not agree with you more. White meat has so much less flavor, is dryer and the texture is gritty compared to dark meat. Of course at Thanksgiving one year my wife’s niece made a turkey for her first time and the only people that got food poisoning were us dark meat eaters🤣.

name the ONE comfort food for you.

I shouldn’t have used the word fancy, I should have said non American which is where I grew up. Those comfort foods listed are probably go to dishes for people from other places. I have friends who think fast food is comfort food which I just can’t eat. Anyway, I appreciate you calling me out on...

name the ONE comfort food for you.

It’s interesting that people are picking fancier food for favorite comfort food. I love all kinds of fancy food and eat at a lot of different restaurants but when it comes to comfort food, and I’m sorry to the OP for not picking just one but it’s either beef stroganoff or Mac and cheese. Not the...

    Seattle Area Knife/Kitchen Thread!

I can’t believe you have one of these that you’re giving away. I live in Bothell and would definitely put this to use. I’m a knife maker of about 4 years now but don’t make knives to sell. I also sharpen knives for a lot of people but don’t even charge anyone. I will say though that my friends...

Experiences with touch controls on ranges?

I personally don’t like touch controls and much prefer turning a knob. I currently have a touch control oven which I’ve had for a decade and I still don’t like how the touch controls work because you have to make several presses to change the temperature. Turning a knob is much more intuitive imo.

DIY Audio or OCD to the next level

Happy that you’re back to 2 channel. Some music really needs to be played that way and shines so much more because of how it was recorded. Pink Floyd Money is a perfect example and I mention it because, unless you’ve been living under a rock 🪨 in the Arctic Circle for the last 50 years you most...

DIY Audio or OCD to the next level

People believe what they believe and no one Usually changes their mind. I use studio quality wiring throughout my system which is twisted and shielded. No matter how many times people bring over ultra expensive exotic wire, I have never noticed enough of a difference, if any that would make me...

AB amplifiers can be great. My class A amp gets fairly warm to the touch but not too hot 🥵. Plus, I live in Seattle so it’s only hot for 2 or 3 months a year.

DIY Audio or OCD to the next level

While I haven’t been able to here any differences between local digital sources running into my dac I have definitely heard differences between different streaming music companies. To me that makes sense. There’s a lot more going on by the time the signal gets to your dac. I have also heard...

DIY Audio or OCD to the next level

I realize it’s just my thoughts and I could certainly be wrong. I just haven’t heard anything at this point in my life to change my mind. Every digital source I’ve fed into my Lampizator Atlantic Plus sounds the same, even an ipod sitting on a pure i20 doc. I haven’t tried the Taiko Extreme and...

DIY Audio or OCD to the next level

I’m the type of audiophile, because of my experiences, believe that any digital source before a high quality dac just doesn’t make that much, if any difference. I know a lot of audiophiles don’t buy into that but I’ve heard no difference from running my Mac mini or any other decent digital...

DIY Audio or OCD to the next level

There are also several people on YouTube that seem to know what they are talking about. All of my vinyl that I purchased new back in the 70’s I played once and put into special sleeves. These were all only played once because I recorded them onto cassette and then put them away. Someday I’ll get...

Yet another wa handle tang slot thread

I made a tool originally for pumpkin carving but it works great for tang slots. It’s a ground down metal cutting saber saw blade and it works really well.

    New at handle making

I’ve used the Min Wax brand, Watco and General Finishes and their all fairly similar. Just wipe them on with a soft cloth, let them dry and put on another coat. I usually do 4 to 6 coats a day with no sanding in between for two or three days. Then I sand the finish smooth with 220 grit...

    New at handle making

You should be aware that true tung oil takes a very long time to dry and some would argue it’s takes weeks to fully dry. I personally like the over the counter products that call themselves tung oil but don’t actually have tung oil in them. They have additives in them that allow them to dry in...

    New at handle making

I have a couple of different ways I cut slots for the tang. I built a device using a trim router and adjustable guides for cutting in the aluminum end pieces which works really well. I also made a cutting tool from a ground down saber saw blade which works well for wood. The funny thing is that...
