Forge welded iron. Inclusions at lamination so not sure if wrought iron or not. Feels softer side of iron.

Steel feels like white 2 or tamahagne. Can't tell, and I dont see forge weld lines on the back much. The extremely delicate and fine edge taking suggests good tamahagane, but I can't say for sure. One of the better steels I've used and really pleasant. Not the best but really likable.

Ura has lots of pitting. There's a delam at the tip that hits the edge, but it's at the very tip. In fact it looks like the iron wraps around the steel there. Lots of delamination marks on the ura, and some between the iron layers. Lots of rough finishing. Low spot at heel and wide low spots near middle of blade. Edge and ura are straight. The heel sharpens differently because the neck protrudes toward the ura, making the angle for ura sharpening different there. Hand carved handle by maker. Forged spine is uneven. Heel relief, not sure if a chip or intentional by maker. Certainly helps prevent stabbing myself on a takohiki
