Hey guys,
Found a few other stones I'm looking to pass on. These are all nakato, and have interesting characteristics to them.
As with my last stones, they've all been tested by first resetting the bevel polish to a 1k synthetic polish before taking videos from each stone.
1k polish:
I also lapped all of them to an atoma 140 surface before use, as I find this best helps the speed of nakato like these.
2-tone Binsui $70 USD/$105AUD 170x70x50mm 1371g
Not as great of burnisher as some of the others here - but it's strength is that it's much more user-friendly while maintaining an ability to burnish and show details. You can still faintly see the details of the wrought peeking through. Relative to the other stones listed, it's a bit softer and feels more smooth to use.
Iyo $100 USD/$150 AUD 192 x 72 x 50mm 1456g
A better burnisher than the Binsui listed above, but doesn't feel quite as nice to use in practice. The burnished surface has less tactile feedback, but provides a better result and the surface feels more solid in use.
Hard Iyo $125 USD/$185 AUD 265 x 70 x 61mm 1985g
The best stone for results, in my opinion of the ones that I've listed here. However, it comes with the caveat of also being the hardest, and the weirdest. It still cuts plenty fast after refreshing the stone with a 140 atoma, but the surface also 'feels' like there are inclusions, even though they don't scratch (as you can see in the video). Its definitely the most unique of the 3 and is a bit of weird size too. With this one I think it's pretty important to wash away slurry before using the stone surface for the best results.
If you've got any questions, feel free to reach out. As always, domestic shipping within australia is free, and happy to cover the first $20 AUD of international shipping.
