I found for me a small paintbrush does the best job to spread and let dry.

What do you guys use?

Do you actually mean diamond spray? Or diamond emulsion like gunny juice?

Because with spray you really dont need to spread it. Just spray it over the surface. Let it dry. Done.

Elusion on the other hand. Definitely needs some spreading. I tried using my hand. But because the strop was suede side up i think. The emulsion quickly just soaked in so it took a lot.

I saw videos about the paint brush but it seemed like a waste of product to me. You load up the brush before you get it on the strop. I used a little flexible rubber tipped clay shaping tool. Zero waste. That stuff is expensive!
I bought a pack of Sculpting Shapers – Flexible Rubber Paintbrushes on amazon.com for $6 and can confirm Zero Waste with compound.

Great suggestions here. I just learned how wasteful I had been all these years just using a paper towel and soaking up most of the good stuff into a something I then dispose of
