Steel heat treat feels pretty similar to the sk, honestly. A decentish bit harder, but not that big a jump as I was expecting. I prefer ashi white to it, but this feels harder, but different from the oil quench (based on what I've seen on the online videos on the maker)

The handle scales are a bit recessed where they meet the bolster, enough to annoy me a bit

Better comparison is the 165 gyuto 43mm for at $230 found at strataportland under goko hamano. I own a wa handled 150mm petty costing 165 which is a fun little knife that gets screaming sharp in an instant. Would jump on this if I wasn't looking for 240mm's.

Its also one of the bolster handled ones without a reverse distal taper right at the neck. That is so annoying, when I've had it before. It's partly from the welding process and trying to get the scale off during grinding.
