235x52mm, 243g
1.2519 steel w/ cladding
Maple Burl Handle
San-mai "Banded Lightning"
Reluctantly going to list this one as I love this knife, but this size is pretty crowded in my small collection.
This knife feels insanely good in-hand. The thick tang, lovely handle, and balance are just excellent. WH heel, crazy good taper, and full convex grind. Steel takes a nasty edge and has only been lightly sharpened twice. Brought to work a few times but still in great condition. Been hit with some BKF once or twice but the finish is still really smooth. Not very reactive at all with the etching done as well.
There was some early worry about micro pitting in some spots, Joe did not seem too worried about it but to contact him if anything ever changes. The dots are smooth and have not changed, it may be pooled etchant as a few people have suggested. You can try and lightly sand it off if it really bothers you. Price reflects this concern (generously if I may add).

Bought for $1,150. Selling for $915. Would consider trades like 240-270mm Toyamas, Wats, Wakui WH (from JNS), Kawachi, Mazaki no potato chip.
