Hey all!
Retired cook here.
I have been sharpening my knives for nearly 40 years, but in that time I have only used Arkansas stones (the tri-stone most restaurant kitchens have) , DMT products, and of course the rough grey double sided thing. I know very little about all the other options.
I recently decided I wanted to try out stropping. I ended up deciding on an inexpensive leather strop from Amazon that came with a stone I didn't recognize. It was about 13 dollars, so I ordered two and some stropping compunds to try out. I wasn't expecting much from a freebie stone bundled with a cheap strop, but I figured it could always go in my fishing tackle box...
Well, when they arrived, I was surprisedby how fine the blue colored stone was. I googled blue sharpening stone and the ABBW came up.
So, can anyone more experience with such things (and better eyesight) confirm or refute this as a BBW?
Seems like a bit of a bad business model to include a free stone that in this size (120x40mm) retails for about double what I paid for the strop. Or maybe those dang Belgians are just gouging us? :)
Here's pics in different light.
