Interesting article. I was in college at the height of Friedan and Steinem. My neighbor is a counselor at a local university and she often remarks about the giant steps backwards that young women seem to be taking these days - maybe just the population she deals with. But you have to wonder with role models like Julia Child (I met her once) or even Sarah Moulton ("A women should always use a 12" chef's knife to compete with men"...or something like that.), Clara Schumann, or whoever....what happened!
