Having been a lurker on and off for a few years now, I thought I'd finally join in as I've recently began a new phase of exploring the rabbit hole.

Initially I would just like to express my thanks to the members of the forum for the wealth of information provided, much of which has influenced my skills, knowledge and purchases.

Welcome. Which knives have you currently encountered in the rabbit hole?
Hi, I have recently taken advantage of summer discounts and purchased the Munetoshi 210mm gyuto and 165mm petty from JNS, and I'm waiting on the Sakai Kikumori 240mm gyuto from Cuttingedgeknives (I'll be in the UK to collect).

The Munetoshis were bought with the idea of being somewhat project knives. Although I would love to own a beautifully finished Tanaka, Togashi, custom etc, I'm currently looking towards spending less and learning (improving) to thin, grind, sharpen, polish etc.

I was looking at alternatives to my Yoshikane bunka, which I love, but is a bit short at times and came across the Hatsukokoro Komorebi/Yoshikane comparison on the forum. The price of the Komorebis available at the moment (almost €500) seems a bit steep for me and wanting to try a different brand to Yoshikane, I came across the Sakai Kikumori.

It seems a bit of an unknown but I like the look of the profile and the fact it's made in the Togashi workshop. I imagine it's made by an apprentice rather than Kenji, but hopefully will still be of a decent standard. At less than £250 with the discount, it might be a great deal. We'll see!
