I haven’t tried the tanaka w2 but have a kikuchiyo w2 x Ren. I think the blanks and final knives have thicker spines than tanaka x Ren gyutos but are still very thin from edge to the shinogi, with a concave grind. Also very flat profile. Love mine and i surprisingly like the steel. Not as reactive as I expected and holds an edge for a bit in a home environment. Have heard mixed things about Tanaka’s w2 but am sure it’s ok.

Quite a different category to Konosuke Gs which is a pure laser and has a convex grind… more comparable to an ashi etc. 🍎 vs 🍊
