I just received a custom made paring knife in 1095. Problem is my wife loves it and I know she won't take care of it.

So, I'm thinking I will just force a patina and get it over with.

What do you guys recommend for a simple way to force a nice looking, blueish patina?

Slicing hot meats like beef and chicken will produce a nice bluish patina.

BUT

A patina will not protect the knife from neglect. No way, no how, not going to happen.

Get her a nice stainless paring knife of her own.

Or just neglect it so you have an excuse to buy another
