For those of you wondering about this, yes, you can permasoak it. Mine has been permasoaking almost 3 weeks now and it's not showing any signs of deterioration. In fact, I like it much better this way. Before it had the tendency to load up with the back of a chisel on it but that's all gone now. I also think the feedback has improved. There's a better sense of abrasion now and it feels slightly softer and smoother. The edge it produces as a permasoaker is also slightly better.
