Completed this project a couple of weeks ago, and really happy with the outcome. A KKF friend asked me to craft some matching sayas for a set of knives he bought as a gift. He commissioned the set from M Sicard Cutlery, and Matt outfitted the knives with some beautiful ebony handles with brass/red micarta spacers. I made the sayas from walnut and used an ebonizing process to darken the wood to match, then finished with tung oil. Such a beautiful set sort of demanded some display mechanism, so I fashioned a stand out of the same maple board. The rack can either hang on the wall, or be affixed to the base to be free standing. I thought the silk bags that my friend sewed for me made a nice gift wrapping.
