Hey y'all, here are 2 homogeneous stones from Shobudani and Aiiwatani. Both stones are on the softer side and very user friendly without sacrificed cutting speed as they are both quite grit rich stones. Both stones are sealed in cashew and side stamped.
1. Shobudani Tomae Iromono:
135x85x24
LV 3.2
Price: $150
Nicely colored Shobu Iromono. Typical character traits of softer shobu colored tomae but cuts extremely fast from a start to finish. Easy going stone all around and fast kasumi results with proper technique.
2. Aiiwatani Tomae Kiita Nashiji Kan
143x69x31
LV 3.4
Price: $150
Very similar to the shobu in terms of results and being extremely easy going and user friendly. The main difference here is a tad firmer base. It still self slurries and cuts fast. Kasumi was surprisingly easy. I've noticed Aiiwatani tend to polish a bit brighter in general so this stone was a refreshing change to that trend a lot of us have maybe noticed. Nice visual piece!
