a lot of knives for a lot of different brands, but he doesnt like to share that info, as it puts him in an odd position with the companies he produces for... his son works with him too FYI

Not to highjack but this Tanaka doesn't really sell his own knives but outsources? So most of the Tanaka knives I see from say, K&S and what not are Shigeki Tanaka?

Different Tanaka... the "Tanaka" branded knives are made by shigeki tanaka in Miki.... the guy above is in sakai

I've got a blue #1 Tanaka in 270mm Gyuto style that's a beast. I also have his blue #1 in a petty. Very nice stuff indeed.
