Hi all,
A good friend of mine, Sam Diab of Burning Sword Ironworks, made this knife very early in his knifemaking journey. His skills have greatly improved since this knife but I still think it’s a good example of his abilities. It is his first attempt at a San Mai blade and is mild steel over Wolfram. It comes in at around 204mm and 50mm tall. I gave it a rudimentary polish and a crispy edge. I live in NY and would be willing to offer it around to interested parties in the CONUS.

If you’re interested, please reach out with your name and location and I’ll try and put together a logical travel schedule for the knife. A maximum of a week to ten days for each person and please share your thoughts on it and pics to document condition and any damage. Thanks all, if you like Sam’s knife and are interested in one of your own I can certainly put you in touch with him.

Thanks,
Chuck

I'm not familiar with Burning Sword Ironworks. It looks like he has a not-super-active facebook page and um.... this post? Curious for any additional details there, always love to learn about a new maker.

I’m not entirely certain what exactly you’re asking or looking for. As I wrote, this is one of his earliest blades that he gifted to me. I also own a gyuto and suji that he made for me. He is only a part time maker and still getting his feet wet and knife making business off the ground. My hope is to help get his name out because he is a friend and a great person, as well. I’m attaching some of the newer knives that he’s made for people. I hope I’ve answered your questions.

I was just curious for more information. You just provided some, which helps--he's a part-time and relatively new maker, and you provided a few pictures of his work. Does he typically do a certain kind of knife or work with a certain kind of steel? Is he a smith or exclusively a craftsman? Does he work with anyone, make his own handles, where does his material come from, etc.? Did he learn from someone or does he have a particular style? How much work does he do? Does he do custom orders, sell through a store, or what? I'm just spitballing ideas.

To your point about trying to help him get his name out there, I think it would probably help if there was a little more information about just generally who he is and what he does, so I was asking if you had any. I didn't have one specific question, I just didn't know anything and a brief Google didn't tell me much, so I know I'd be curious to learn more.
