Hey guys,
Here one from a few years back.
My Yahiko Yoshikane KU 240 gyuto. KU is extremely durable and hasn't had any fading over the years. The knife hasn't been used heavily but is in used condition. It's been polished/sharpened with japanese natural stones and it's a workhorse, ready to go hard!
Cladding was marketed as stainless but seems to be iron cladding with alloying stainless elements because it patinas slowly. Reminds me of the old Tsuchime Wakui's cladding. KU has nashiji like finish as well. I asked Mark for a knife with more pronounced nashiji and he came through.
Handle is Octagonal ho wood with Buffalo horn ferrule.
Overall fit and finish is top notch.
Knife has a very similar feel to an older made Yoshikane in that it feels much more sturdy in the hand and has some girth behind the edge. A little has been due to sharpening but I've kept up with the geometry and there are zero high/low spots in the grind. The knife was very well heat treated/ground as with most all Yoshikane. Knife has been shar down a bit but some thinning if you want thinner behind the edge shouldn't take too much work.
MEASURMENTS:
Edge: 243.5 mm
Height: 49 mm
Distal: 4/2/1 mm
Overall length: 390 mm
Asking: $200 + shipping USPS priority
Offers accepted
