What would you request for your last meal?

I had a deep discussion about this with my girlfriend last night. I came to the conclusion that whoever jailed me would need to execute me in Japan. I would order a dozen totten inlet oysters in the half shell, okonomiyaki from my favorite spot in Hiroshima, grilled hamachi kama, sardine and...

    Favorite Instant Ramen?

Of an instant ramen that's good straight out of the box? If I could get my hands on it, that would be the 7-11 branded ramen bowls from Japan. It even has a thick slab of dehydrated chashu that, when rehydrated, is quite good. Otherwise, if I want to make my own egg/chashu/gyoza, then I...

Places to go and see in SF

I would look into AirBnB for anything in the Mission. There aren't many hotels worth looking at in the Mission in my opinion.

    CA's water troubles....

Not much has changed yet here in the San Francisco Bay Area. We talk about it often, my family's been very mindful of the length of our showers, restaurants don't automatically place water on your table, and my little lawn is quite brown now from conserving these past two years.

    The Lowly Chopping Board

Very nice! I've been meaning to create a chopping board myself, but I need to find a good supplier of wood in my area. Anyone know of a place in the San Francisco Bay Area that would sell small scraps of wood? Everyone wants me to buy 6+' lengths...

Similar to WillC's test, Murray Carter uses a bic lighter to conduct a flex test. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU3ALY8OmZk

New stone came with a hairline crack

Yeah, I agree, it was a lapse in judgement on his part and he doesn't seem to sell many knife related stuff, so I won't hold it against him yet. Unless he sends me another dud.

Hey everyone, Johnny here! I realized I skipped past the introductions and jumped right into asking questions :O ! Sorry for barging in, so I better introduce myself now. I joined the forums after lurking around for a little while, mostly to skim info on how to keep a few of my Chinese...

New stone came with a hairline crack

New stone came with a hairline crack

Thanks for the replies and advice guys. The seller has offered to exchange the stone. I'll take him up on the offer with the caveat that he'd pay for the return shipping too. Cheers,

New stone came with a hairline crack

I got a new king 1k/6k stone in the mail today, but it came with a small hairline crack that runs all the way down to the holder. Both sides of the crack are offset just enough to feel a slight bump, like rolling your finger over a strand of hair. It this something to worry about? Can I just...
