My best guess is it’s a kydex material. Apply cork with adhesive, cut to size and round edges, heat/shape over a mold.

Choils are funny. Yeah it’s a representation of the overall geometry of the knife, but often appear so much thicker from the heel and don’t necessarily represent 2/3 of the blade 🤷♂️
