$100 shipped
228mm choil to choil
366 g
5.5mm spine, varies slightly
68mm tang length choil to tang end, both sides
With ura facing me
30mm tall one side (right)
32mm tall other side (left, this sides ground a little thicker behind edge)
48mm tall at center
28mm steel height at center
Sharpened, rust removed. Steel feels very bitey, refines, softer side like deba steel. Great keenness it catches on hair, even at a high angle (around 40 degrees is what I set it at). Also sticks right into wood. Blade has a twist near the ends which is how most seem to be designed but the middle is really straight. The spine is pretty straight but the edge does bend/twist up at the ends. Could be hammer straightened or maybe stick straightened, but it's a rough shaping tool and I don't think it's strictly necessary. Came to me blunt. Ura has contact everywhere, but weak contact at a couple spots that could be uradashi-hammered a little. One tang seems maybe 1-2 degrees more angled. It has what looks like a flower stamped on the ura near one tang
How these are used is there's a piece of wood, clamped down, and then this is pulled to rapidly take off material. Usually these draw knives have handles lol, pieces of wood burned on. They go by a lot of different names, like sen sometimes but those are a bit different. Also double handed kanna, again not sure if the proper name
Weakest ura contact
