Thick knives save lives
Well, it's about time I parted with this one. I won four of these in an auction some time ago and have sort of sat on them since. I very sadly do not need 4 whale knives, so I will be rehoming two of them. This is the first of the two, the second will come in a few days. This is in project state, no handle with a bit of light rust and pitting, which is exactly how I received it from Japan. Steel doesn't feel very hard and it seems to be a bit springy, I guess that might be a good quality if there is a risk of you violently encountering bones while slicing through blubber? Iron clad, and does not have a super straight cladding line like pre-laminated or machine laminated stock would. These would have been equipped with super long handles for holding with two hands for longer reach, or could be used as a slicing knife for portioning out chunks. You could use this to scare off unruly guests, portion out large chunks of meat, or feel immense joy when you cut up watermelons. The possibilities are endless really.
