So I have a JCK 1K &4K combo stone, it's been a good stone so far for practicing and building my sharpening skills. My coworker gauged a few good knotches from the sides so I bought a flattening stone to fix it.
I just flattened my stone and now the 4K side seems coarserthan the 1K side. I'm just confused, do I need to go over the 4K side with some fine sandpaper to make it smooth again or what's going on??(

Just keep sharpening. The stone feels corse right now from the scratches of the low grit flattening stone. As you sharpen it will smooth back out
