Did you try contacting MTC to ask? When I was there a couple years ago I got to talking to the owner and he said he visits Takamura a couple times a year, so he will probably be able to answer.

I have a hazy recollection that I called them at some point and they just told me to sign up for restock notification but I could be making that up. I'll give it another shot.

email might be better. In my experience most of the staff don't know a lot about the knives. You've got to get to the owner.

@Heckel7302. Response from MTC Kitchen below. No information at this time, "hopefully next year" 😭

Crazy good knives and quite a step up from the red handle line.
Taka seems to be cranking out these bang for your buck lines but the pro series is where it’s at. Maybe we can start looking around at some of these Japanese vendors, if they’re available domestically in Japan surely someone has some.

I have no idea where they are sold. Didn't see any in Kappabashi or Tower Knives Osaka for sure, but I think it's pretty tourist-oriented now and it was a lot of knives like Tsunehisa etc. I think I read they sell the hana lines at department store popups or something like that? Maybe I should've looked around more in department stores.

I'd check the Takefu/Echizen area.

So who's going to Japan these days? Might have to organize a group buy 🤔

Fairly similar to the blazen I assume, and apparently just as elusive. Maybe even more elusive when adjusted for the fact that they're still in production. 🤬
Well the western yo Blazen handle line has been discontinued. I do find them to be similar(fit and finish is the same level) but the taka pro is thinner lighter blade, still with great convexing and much thinner edge than blazen.

That would be impressive because here's the grind on the 210 blazen I picked up the other day and it's pretty darn thin bte, especially for a 210. My 240 tapers even more dramatically i think but I'm too lazy to take another choil shot 😆

Heading to Japan in a couple months so I have a keen interest in this as well. I have read some people have had success going to Takamura directly - but thats quite the side trip to pick up a Hana.
Aw come on there's gotta be a ton of knife opportunities to make it worth your while in Echizen! Just let me know when you're headed there for the group buy 🙏
