The Raquin sold right away (😢), the Denka went back to TF and they are making me a new one.

So after participating in the "how many knives do you have" thread I decided I need to start thinning the herd!

First up is a Bryan Raquin wrought-clad gyuto, 210 x 50, 172 grams. Burned oak handle. Non-KT grind.

Bought on BTS here. It's been used to prep maybe 3 meals, came sharp and has only been stropped. It's a ridiculously good cutter, one of the best I own, but for me it overlaps too much with a Fredrik Spåre and so doesn't get the use it deserves. Selling for what I paid, $700.

Second is a catch-and-release TF Denka 240 with a wa handle. It's been used to cut one carrot and one potato and put back in the box. I tend towards lighter knives these days.

It's 400mm overall, 251mm from handle to tip, cutting edge 245mm, 288 grams. Spine is 5mm out of the handle, 3.25mm halfway down, 0.6mm about 2mm from the tip.

While taking the photos I realized it came with a little special extra wabi sabi - there's a teeny imperfection on the spine and it seems to have a bit of plastic or paper in it 🤷‍♂️. I'm sure you could easily remove it but I didn't bother. It's small enough that I didn't notice it in use. If you look very closely you can see it towards the tip in the fourth photo.

I bought it at a steep discount from this Knife findings alert. I paid $716 (normal price is $895) and I'm happy to pass my saving along to a KKFer and I'll eat the $26 in PP fees plus shipping. I know the JPY/USD exchange rate is all out of whack so if this doesn't sell I'll hold it. One and only price drop - $625.

Sorry, I am lazy so both CONUS only. Thanks for looking!

LOL no worries!

I wanted it so much that I pounced on it within 5 minutes of the original seller's post (which said, in its entirety, "Raquin 210x50, wrought clad" 😂 ) without asking a single question. So I really don't know. Is there any way to tell?

Same general grind but with more beef, especially towards the rear and spine. I’ve got both now, and as a all rounder think the classic grind is a better performer. KT is trendier here id say. They’re awesome knives in whatever flavor, someone is going to LOVE that one

I know I am going to regret this. But happy for it to go to a great home (which it is).

OK let's see if we can get this sold.

I'm not one to post "one and only price drop" only to do three more. Not my style. So this is it.

$625 for a basically brand new Denka that was $895 retail. If that doesn't get it out the door I'll happily keep it.

Really, no? OK fine, one more reduction.

Nah, just kidding.😁

I guess I'll hold until the yen corrects or just keep it. 'Tis a classic after all.
