I have a 25 year old ceramic sharpening "stick" same length as their sharpening steel. Trying to bring it back to
its original "snow white" look. I certainly do not want to ruin it by using anything bad on it by making matters even worse. I have been reading here on the forum about cleaning knives etc. Can I use an old dponge with ajax, bon ami or some other cleaner without ruining it or does anyone have a special "mixture" that they might recommend? Thanking everyone in advance. :happymug:

There is a ceramic honing rod eraser available. Not sure if it works on really dirty rods.

Thank you for your link. Will check it out. Regards from So. Calif:lol2:

A pencil eraser or water with soap. If you do not brake it you will hardly ruin it.

Getting eraser gunk off an abrasive sounds could get more nasty than getting metal off it :)

I use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on my ceramic rod, works great.

Comet / Ajax works well, BarKeepers Friend works just a little better. You won't ruin the rod unless you drop it.

The epicurean edge eraser work like nothing else. When your done erasing the metal, take a Hand towel and wipe the rod off. Good as new!
