So I bought this a couple weeks ago from @TokushuKnife. It was listed as a 180mm:

The box also reflects this:

But as I was preparing this FS post, I discovered the knife is in fact 165mm:

I only used the knife a couple times and I honestly didn't even notice the discrepancy. I guess with the height, the length difference just didn't stand out but there it is.

EDIT: This is a Sakai-measured knife. So they call it a180 but that is from the handle face.

So, with that in mind...

PRICE = $190USD $180USD
- Paypal
- Shipped in the USA

MY MEASURED STATS:
- Aogami Super core with stainless clad
- 165mmx51mm
- Weight = 160g

Like I said, I used the knife a couple times and no sharpening. The knife has nice fit and finish with the handle fitment/sealing being especially nice. Both me and Tokushu put it in the laser category but I don't consider it delicate.

Yes it is a k-tip so one would think bunka and not nakiri but @TokushuKnife suspects they labeled it nakiri as it is much flatter than their bunka.

It's a sexy knife and a real cutter and I really like it I just have others that already fill the role so letting this go.

It would be best to respond here if you'll take it.

Let me know if you have questions. :)

really nice knife - though I feel compelled to comment on the name that toshoku have assigned to this bladeshape...perhaps the name bunka would be better understood by the forum?

of course this is not a misrepresentation of the knife nor a reflection on the seller and I wish him GLWS

Fair point and we discussed it here:
https://www.kitchenknifeforums.com/threads/nigara-as-migaki-tsuchime-180mm-kiritsuke-nakiri.66608/
@TokushuKnife felt it was because of it's flatness whereas the bunka in the line has some curve to the edge.

I have this same knife from another vendor. It was listed as a 180mm nakiri and came up to 165mm just like this one. Nigara has what they list as a bunka in both AS and SG2 that is shorter at the heel, but slightly longer with more belly. While I was disappointed by the short length being that I expected a cutting edge of 180mm, the thin hollow grind performs nicely. Add nice fit and finish and quality steel offerings (I haven't used it enough to comment on heat treatment/edge retention) and they're offering a lot at the price point IMO. GLWS.

They make a bunka in the same line that is shorter and has belly instead of being flat, so we go with what the manufacturer calls it. I appreciate the feedback in the forum, because I think both issues- Sakai Knife measurements, and distinguish a bunka from a Kiritsuke Nakiri. Only brand I have seen carry one.
