At the moment I'm using western brands, mostly wusthoff. Was looking to get approved to post in the marketplace to start my journey into Japanese knives!

Welcome. I'm pretty new to the forum myself, but it's been a lot of fun so far. Good group. I am actually from Reno, NV so nice to meet another VGK fan. Takes a little time or just pay the member fee. The BST is hoppin though so if that is your main reason the fee is not the biggest deal. I caved about as fast as I fell down the sharpening rabbit hole. Any knives in particular that you have your eye on? There are many Japanese and western smiths worth exploring!
