Thanks for letting me join KKF - it's good to be here.
I don't yet own anything more than a perfectly serviceable but basic, mass produced, generic, fairly cheap set of knives - but I have always promised myself a decent set of knives when I have a little more time to devote to cooking - which will be in the coming months, I hope.
Next steps - buy a good kitchen knife or two, and a full set of manual sharpening equipment. To this end, I started doing some research into what I might buy and ended up here.......
I now realise how big a topic this is and how much I have to learn - which I am very much looking forward to!
