Hi everyone,

I'm new here and thank you in dvance to anyone who will help. I have a set of japanese knifes which I know nothing about. Is anyone here skilled enough to identify the brand based on the incisions? Or maybe you can give me a suggestion on where I should post this thread. Here are the pictures, sorry if the quality is not perfect, it's the best I could do. And if you ever come to France, I'll owe you a beer for every knife you find!

Welcome.

Those "insisions" are called kanji and are used to identify the maker of the knife. A single mark on the left side may be used to denote the type of steel.

I can't read kanji so I'll leave you to folks that can. They can also be googled with varying success.
