I'm new to the knife world, aside from having general knowledge that comes from growing up in the country. Lol. I've started developing a passion for cooking, though, and in that endeavor, I've wanted to start setting my sights on some quality, long lasting cutlery.
Besides just looking for some insight and suggestions, I joined this forum because a friend of mine who works on a fishing boat gifted me a knife he had purchased. I know very little about it, and as it contains no real 'googleable' identifying characteristics. The kanji on the blade looks to be stamped in, not engraved, and as such, I cannot get Google Translate to pic it up. It looks to maybe be an imitation-esq blue steel, but I honestly have no idea. Just looking for any help at all.
