After finishing on the #1000 Cerax from Suehiro and using the Ouka #3000 it fine tunes my knifes even better. I don't see a lot of buildup either after using it. It feels soft and smooth. Gets my knives even more sharp.

I don't own the Rika #5000, but I hear it's amazing as well.

I'm truly satisfied with Suehiro stones. They're not too expensive, and I haven't bought a stone from Suehiro that I'm dissatisfied. Looking forward to trying the Rika #5000 one day.

Anyone else like Suehiro?

What are your favorite stones?

Anyone use a #3000 grit stone for just knife touch ups?

A popular brand for sure, and with good reason! But then, there are a lot of good brands out there, and we (sharpeners) all like to experiment with new stuff.
I have a 1k and 5k, both with great feel and results, and find the 1k softer than other-brand stones up or down from it. The ryka/5k seems a little harder.

Rika 5000 is great, but if you own an ouka 3000, it won’t give you anything too noticeably different from the 3000. Suehiro’s 1000 and 3000 were my favorites for a long time.

If you want something that is going to give you a completely different/better experience, try the gesshin synthetic natural. That one is the best synthetic finisher IMO.

You can try jns 6000, gesshin 6000, morihei 6000, or arashiyama 6000, and these will give you a noticeably finer edge. But they will also reduce your knife’s edge retention.

These days, I only use my 600 synthetic aoto, morihei 4000, and my jnats(Ohira/Shoubudani renge suitas)

I go Suehero 1K to 5K ryka, great jump.

I've read the Suehiro 1K = 1300 grit-ish
5k = 3500-ish

You could sell your 3K and get a Ryka5k and a 6K. That would give a pretty primo progression of
working grits of 1300>3500>6000 for fine edge work...OR you could keep and buy 'em ALL like the rest of us!

I have way to many overlapping stones, but it's fun to pick and choose.

I've been searching for some good stones that are not too expensive and so far Suerhio and King are the ones I keep reading about. I just got the 1000 and 3000 grits and look forward to using them. Thanks for posting.
