Hi all! Just registered after being a long time lurker. Recently moved to an apartment with a full kitchen (a rarity in NYC), and looking to buy a full knife set. Watching the knife findings thread and the buy/sell threads like a hawk. Cheers!

Welcome and congrats on the move. We have a number of NY'ers on the forum.

As far as a knife "set" you'll find most of us will discourage purchasing a set and instead recommend buying two or three individual knives. Most often people will recommend a gyuto/chef, petty or paring, and...ugh...a serrated bread knife.

There's a sticky thread with a questionnaire you can copy and start a thread to help folks steer you to possibilities and of course, BST is also great.

Ah I didn’t mean set in that sense. Not sure what to call it instead of a set. Mmm maybe “a selection of knives purchased at the same time because now I have a real kitchen”? Haha. Thanks for the kind and thoughtful message

Still I would suggest to get knives one by one. It's much more fun exploring the new knife and getting to know it.
