For sale today I have something special. It is a 242 Isasmedjan honyaki gyuto, polished by Knivfluencer (check IG). After the polish the knife got its current handle installed by Jonas (Isasmedjan). The handle is a dark ebony, with a cross-cut ebony bolster. This is the best looking honyaki gyuto I have seen.

Knife is not a laser, but it is zero ground with a very small edge bevel and a very good cutter.

Selling because I’m thinning out the collection, and this deserves to live in a place where it sees more use.

Condition/use
The linked Imgur contains detailed pictures as well as fly-over videos in harsh light. Timestamp picture is also in Imgur.

The polish is extraordinary with lots of details showing. In the videos it’s possible to see that it’s a mirror polish, but also that there’s lots of activity in the steel.

The knife was polished about a year or so ago. After which I used it a few times and it got a faint patina. I re-finished, re-etched, and put the knife away. There is some light patina after about a year of storage in lots of oil and a soft-lined blade guard. There is also some patina just at the bolster, since I did not remove the handle for the etch.

I can’t fault the polish. But the finish can be improved with some gentle removal of the light patina. The finish can be further improved should one want to remove the handle and re-etch the blade.

Balance point just in front of maker’s mark.

I’m jumping on here to say that I have bought two knives from David. He was honest and represented the knives accurately. Also, he was interested in making sure that the knives were a good fit for me. 10/10 would buy from him again.

Can't say enough good things about David. An amazing seller. I highly recommend him as a seller. Buy with confidence.

But that knife... guys. You need to look up knivfluencer on Instagram if you don't already know who he is. If anyone can polish a blade it's him.

Jonas work is awesome as always. I'd bet yall already know.

I’ll be waiting in my DMs. 😅
I’m just glad I know you’re not especially interested in the types of knives I already have, I’d have slid in there long before now proposing some kind of cursed part trade otherwise 😇

I updated the Imgur with a cutting video. Also did a careful polish to remove some small stains. Added new movies to show both the activity and the mirror finish.

Cutting performance is not a laser, but also not a workhorse. It’s somewhere in between, and has a good, well-balanced heft.
