Specs:
- 246 x 58 mm
- 6mm spine at handle
- 339g
Price:
- £440 + shipping
Condition and Other Notes:
- Bought new from JNS in 2023 and rehandled with a rosewood and jade horn ferrule, which (imo) balances the blade out nicely (right at the first kanji closest to the handle) without completely negating the forward weighting that makes this knife feel so aggressive and fun to use.
- It has seen moderate to light use and has the patina to show for it. It’s not an everyday knife for me because of the size and weight, so I only tend to bust it out when I’m doing a larger amount of prep. It’s especially great for slaws and the like, as it confidently glides through heads of cabbage, but can still do finer work with the tip easily enough. I also own a JNS Seiryu, so whilst I’m sad to let this go I will survive.
- It has been fully sharpened to re-apex the edge with a SP 1k once or twice, and then only touched up with a 4k/BBW/similar a handful of times to refresh the bite. Wakui does a great treat of W#2 that I find very durable.
