Almost offered this fine deba up for trade but wanted to get the kanji and knife authenticated first.
Thanks

Looks like it says 一心太助, Isshin Tasuke. I'm not familiar with the brand but there are some results on Google

That strongly resembles a shigefusa.

I had a 210 usuba. It swear it was a shigefusa. If it wasn't, then whoever made it, made it to the same spec and quality as other shigefusa I've seen and held

But that knife brand has other stuff too that is not as fancily made. Some spine and choil shots can help give more evidence

Took me a while to remember...about 8-10 years ago it was sold to me as a Shigefusa made before the current kanji we all know. I don't doubt the vendor but I'm also curious on the kanji translation itself and why it differs than any Shigs I've seen.

Shigefusa 198 mm edge, 57.5 mm height, 9.8 mm thick at handle, 351 g
"Other" Shigefusa 192 mm edge, 57 height, 10.4 mm thick at handle, 417 g

I wasn't holding it well so it looks like the "other" is much shorter than the Shig.
