Picked this up early this year from BST: SOLD - Kippington Workhorse 255 x 57 - 288g - 52100 monosteel

Kippington is one of my all-time favorite makers and I was hoping this might unseat my workpony as king of the drawer. But after some thorough side-by-side testing with my I've concluded that the WP grind is more my sweet spot so I'm letting this one go. As I understand it Jules doesn't do workhorses anymore so this is a bit of a rarity. Compared to the WP, his WH has lower and more pronounced convexity to emphasize food release.

I would ideally like to do a straight trade for something like another Kippington workpony or laserpony (a heavier/thicker spine version, ideally 52100), Shihan A2, Tsourkan 52100/A2, Bidinger, Newham, Northside, or Comet. I'd also be happy to consider stuff from Kamon, Yanick, Milan, Xerxes, Devin, The 9, etc but be aware I'm hoping not to add too much cash from my side. Not really interested in anything Japanese except maybe a thicker Kono FM (baby Kaiju).

No cash offers at this time, please. Trade value feels kinda undefined for a Kipp but let's say very roughly ~$600. I'll be off the grid for the holiday tonight/tomorrow so responses may be delayed. Thanks y'all!

Thanks to everyone who reached out with interesting trade options! I think I've responded to all my messages and am waiting on more details from a handful of people but feel free to bug me again as needed. Not committed to anything as of yet.

I believe it's righty biased but will confirm when I get home.
From what I've heard from Jules all of his knifes have at least a slight bias and the feather is what marks the dominant side. The feather here is on the right side and the grind seems a little right dominant too.
Yeah usually it is but I thought I saw some 50/50 grinds on the “WH” ones he’s done in the past. Just wanted to double-check for us lefties out there 🥲

I can send some pictures against a straightedge if you're really interested, but it's not what I'd call 50/50. There's convexity on both sides but it's clearly lower and more pronounced on the right face, especially towards the heel. It does seem to get more symmetrical from midway out towards the tip.

This is still my favorite knife of all time. I believe it was Kippinton's first knives he sold. I love it more than the Ashi Honyaki I had.

I wouldn't trade it, but damn, I wanted that knife you got! I barely missed it.

Someone correct me or was this marked as sold earlier? Is this still available?
