Have a knife coming over from Shi.han and he recently sent over the specs and asked if I wanted any changes (he has been awesome to work with!). The taper looks pretty good, yet mild through the first part of the blade. From some other threads it seems like a fair amount of people thin their Shi.hans after getting them (or at least the tip). Anybody have any recommended tweaks I should pass over to him? In general I wanted something mid weight given I have a bunch of lasers, but still want it to be a good overall performer.

Length: 225mm
Height: 55
Thickness at handle: 3.7
At midpoint: 3.0
At grind: 2.5
1cm back from the top: 1mm

Thanks!

Looking great!! Just tell him you want a mid weight and let him cook

You can ask extra thin tip, he actually thinned my first custom’s tip with only postage fee

Depends on what you like. Personally I like the spine <2.2 at midpoint. More than that should give you better food release and more weight if that’s your jam.

I'd consider asking Shi.han to aim for a spine thickness of around 2.2mm at the midpoint, as Delat mentioned, to get a good balance between weight and food release.
