I am the second owner and only touched up the edge twice. It's never been thinned that I know of. The carbon steel core takes a great edge.
Fit and finish is excellent.

The tip was damaged when I got it and repairing it is beyond my skills.

Great knife, great price, and that's an easy tip repair fwiw. Not calling out your skills, just saying it's an easy fix for a buyer 😄 GLWS!
Yep! Spine on a coarse stone, and grind the spine until the tip meets the edge. That keeps the cutting profile unchanged. Move up the grits until the scratch pattern matches the rest of the spine. 5-10” job.
