damn if i had cash to spend on a knife i'd grab this. i'm a sucker for tall knives, and i've never seen a konosuke at 58mm.
I think this is the only line they offered that tall. All others are the usual sakai sizes.

When saying Sakai size, it’s mostly the length and distal taper. Not necessarily tall or standard 50 mm.

Non-Sakai size is Konosuke YS, too!

Sumiiro is made by Nihei, Sanjo style, WH grind. Even his 48-49 mm tall knives have the same grind.

I have never seen a 58 mm tall Sumiiro (Nihei), so I should say it’s a prototype!
Different beast!

GLWS!

Thanks for the info. Appreciate it.

Although Konosuke is based in Sakai, they do use Sanjo smiths. The Sumiiro (Nihei), YS/YS-M/SKD (Yoshikane), MB (Hinoura) all follow the traditions of Sanjo sizing. This usually means longer than stated and this height knife is an oddity for most Konosuke that I've seen.

Everytime this comes up, I stare. If I didn’t have a Sumiiro(regular height) already, I’ll eat that shipping charge. GLWS.
If NEW Zealand shipping charges were not this crazy I would have included in the selling price.

Just got charged $56 import duties by DHL for a purchase at Tetogi, so it’s par for the course.
Ahh is that it. Paid import duties last month of 250$ usd. To NZ customs coz the threshold was crossed by just 30$ over the limit of the value of package. Knife in crime, tanaka x kyuzo dammy

Last price reduction will have this on for a week if doesn't sell would be withdrawn.
