This is unfortunately not the post I was expecting to make about this knife. I scored on the latest Eddworks drop and spent the beginning of the week very excited to receive my first knife from him. It arrived early and I couldn’t wait to get off work.

Well my mailman mixed up the keys to the parcel lockers of my apartment. I returned the incorrect mail and an unknown person still has my package. This has happened before and always sorts itself out so I was expecting someone to bring it to my door but it was delivered Wednesday afternoon so I don’t see that happening at this point.

I live on Oahu and I know there are a handful of other members out here. The chances are very low but the knife is so unique I wanted to put it out there. This is such a small island and crazier things have happened. I’m guessing whoever has it is planning on selling it for a quick buck, but who knows. I have been watching classified listings.

So on the small chance anyone happens to see this knife for sale or pop up anywhere, please contact me.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks guys.

USPS took responsibility but didn’t offer anything other than “we will remind the carrier to be more mindful when delivering packages.” Id laugh at their response if I wasn’t so bummed.

Oh damn, that sucks. I hope it was insured and that Eddie is able to collect on the policy.

Also I wouldn’t give up hope just yet. Could be the recipient is out of town or just slow to check their mail. We actually only check out mailbox once a week or so, and if we get somebody else’s stuff in our neighborhood it might take us a few days to get around to dropping it off.

@Godinlhi and I have been in contact and we'll get things taken care of one way or another. USPS won't accept insurance claims sooner than 7 days, and I strongly suspect they won't take any (financial) responsibility for something they mark as delivered. Worth a shot though.

This will be the 3rd knife I have had that made it to an unintentional new owner, and so far zero have been returned. I like to think the best about people, but...

It sounds like there's still a really good chance it will turn up. I know that if I got someone else's mail in my mailbox on a Wednesday, It would take me at least until the following Monday to return it, if not potentially even longer. It's not that I don't want to get it back to its rightful owner, it just has to go on my to do list behind a million other things. Really hoping you get your knife! 🤞🤞

I feel like the only reason they never pay out is because they know how often it happens.

If it was truly a rare circumstance they would handle it better

And this is why we always ship knives with insurance. ❤️

I hope whoever has it might just be really busy. But I left my contact info in the common area with that in mind and haven’t gotten any texts/calls.

In my experience with sports cards usps insurance is really hit or miss. I’m hoping if it comes to it they will honor an insurance claim after acknowledging this has been an issue on my route. I’d really just like the knife though.

It’s especially disheartening that someone so close to me might have it. I thought my neighbors were trustworthy but won’t feel comfortable sending valuables to my address anymore.

Strange things happen. I had this happen with a badger hair shave brush. The USPS did nothing. So I kept bothering the local one till I got answers. I finally found out from the office who talked to the carrier that it got delivered to a neighborhood on the other side of the woods from me to a house with a similar address, and the digits where one off. Street name only started with the same letter. I don't know they do weird things. Anyway.
I went to that address to talk with them. As strange as it is the guy was retired owner of a pawn shop and oddly collected those brushes and had some coming all the time to his house. His daughter who was disabled wanted to get the mail that day and opened the brush and liked it so he let her keep it. I guess no one ever checked the address cause he had them delivered so often. Super nice guy gave it back and even asked if I wanted to shoot archery with him and showed me his collection of rare switchblade knives.

Maybe you can find out who it was delivered to and just knock on their door and ask? It could possibly still be sitting in their parcel locker. I think some people just leave stuff like that for the mailman to deal with.

A badger hair shave brush sounds badass. That is a wholesome story, glad your mail ended up with someone you were able to connect with.

I’ve already asked the apartments with numbers similar to mine as well as check all the parcel lockers. I spoke to one mailman but he wasn’t delivering the day in question. I really want to speak to the specific mailman who delivered that day but the most usps will tell me is they don’t have a set mail carrier for my route. Which shouldn’t matter if I know the date and time of delivery, look at the schedule and ask the person who was delivering that day.

I unfortunately feel like I’ve covered all my bases, even looked in the dumpster for the empty shipping box. If I see any neighbors with bandaids on their finger tips I’m going to have some questions.
