This is a very clean and useful stone. I'm only selling it because I have another stone which is as good, but bigger. That said, this is still big enough for kitchen knives.

I would say the hardness is around 4/5, and it finishes in the 6K range. It is a wonderful scratch eraser as part of a polishing progression, and leaves a pleasant kasumi finish on its own. The stone has been sealed, but as shown in the video, there are a couple small chips that should be touched up.

I will also say, it is hands down my best-smelling stone, and I am going to miss it!

I wonder that its still here, for that money, the stone itself, slurry pics as well as the finish look all very, very good!
I am surprised myself. This is a point-and-click stone for getting a nice even kasumi finish after a #6,000 synth (or a jnat midgrit like a fine Natsuya or Aizu). It produces black slurry super quickly, meaning it has great cutting power for its fineness.

This stone also excels as a "pre-finisher," for those who want to follow up with a finer awasedo. This kind of stone IMO is absolutely essential for that: you need a fast stone that will prepare a clean finish on the bevel--and you need to be confident that that stone is clean and will not scratch. This will not scratch. Period.
The best way to use it is to smooth the surface with a #1000 diamond plate and wash off all the swarf. It will self-slurry on its own when you start polishing the blade road.

I have a beautiful, large Atago brick, which I would consider selling as a set with the tomae. The Atago is super-fine but still a good hardness for kitchen knives. It works great coming after the maruo tomae.

It has been sealed on sides and bottom.

I would do the set of both for $585 (shipping in US included)
