For sale, the JNat that started it all:
a relatively clean and muddy specimen of a Tanba Aoto from the Matsunaga Stone Co. that sells the King stones.
Asking 85 USD plus shipping from Singapore.
Measurements: 199 x 57 x 57 mm, approx. 1.5kg.
It's great for sharpening, but not so much for polishing - dark kasumi that's usually streaky, but can be quite even with the correct slurry management. Very beginner friendly if you're looking for that refined yet toothy JNat edge. Fast cutting on simple carbon steels, and slightly slower on German and Global stainless steels.
The stone is sealed with lacquer, fully flattened, and comes with a detachable stabilising resin base.
I'd love to keep the stone, but got to make space for potentially getting a Kouzaki Aoto.
This probably only makes sense if you're in the region due to shipping charges.
