I previously purchased a Tojiro DP petty and a Tojiro DP Gyutou. Both were super sharp out of the box. I just got a Tojiro DP paring knife, and out of the box it was not very sharp so I need to give it some work. I honed it a bit on a King 6000 and "green chrome" on leather. Didn't help much.

I have Shapton glass 1000 and 2000 stones and a Chosera 5000. Where would you recommend I start to get the knife up to where it should be?

Still a rookie!

I usually use something like a 6k for refining the edge or touching up. For initial sharpening, I like to drop down to 1k and bring it up to 4-6k.

Id run your full progression other than choosing between the King and Ch5k.

were you hitting the apex with the 6k stone?

Factory edges tend to be weak due to buffering. Make sure to remove a bit of steel. Start with your coarsest stone.
