After a few months of reading-searching-contemplating I decided to go with this knife rather than a succession of low-cost starters. I’m sure I’ll like it, but it’s really about discovery and learning right now. It feels great, and quite different from what I’m accustomed to. It’s light and balance is more forward, at the thumb and forefinger using the pinch. It’s also longer (240 v. 210), and I think I will enjoy the length. The nice folks at JKI put a finished edge on it before shipping and still got it out the same day — great packaging and a handwritten note as well. Exciting times.

Congratulations! I know you will enjoy your new knife! Y. Kato does a good job with AS. His Masakage Koishi in AS continues to hold a spot in my regular rotation. Best wishes on your journey...

(you have taken the red pill....now you will soon see how deep the rabbit hole really goes)
