Another of the gems going up. A unique stone in that it is a double sided aka renge shiro suita / ao renge.

Not only a beautiful collectors piece but very nice to use as well. The ao renge side is the best behaved of its type I’ve ever encountered - cuts fast without feeling glassy or being overly reactive. Clean with exceptional feedback. Fantastic edges or detailed polishing. Both sides flattened and usable though the aka renge side could use additional lapping to expose more renge and remove a few low spots. Sides are sealed.

Am I the only one who is curious to see the aka renge-side of the stone and to know how it performs? If that would be like a typical Ohira aka renge (i.e. softer and less fine), it would make the stone even more unique and basically a "2 in 1" package, so a total steal!

A large catering order got in the way of stone fun, but I got something done today! Still a ways to go to get to the renge visible in the side, but this side is useable and i just tested it. Much chalkier feedback that self slurries. A frostier kasumi with less detail. The su isn’t scratching too, I used the full stone for this test. Definitely seems like a true natural combi to me!
