I've been thinking about these areas of Russia (Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsk Krai) and I realised millions of years ago, they were once connected with Japan. Would it be unreasonable to believe that the stones found in these regions would be very similar to Jnats?

Not at all unreasonable, no. You’ll probably find mudstones and shales similar to Japanese stones in almost any country in the world - they’re very common.
